GSEO and Uganda's National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) offically sign MoU
On August 19st, 2022, the GSEO officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) of Uganda, demonstrating the intent of both organizations to research the potential for improved deployment of renewable energy resources in Uganda, to explore market opportunities and prospects for international cooperation, jointly develop capacity-building programs according to local conditions and requirements, and lay a foundation for the involvement of global entrepreneurs and energy companies in Uganda’s renewable energy sector.
The cooperation between NEMA and the GSEO will involve leading international energy sector experts and multiple government departments in Uganda, such as the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development (MEMD) and the Ministry of Water and Environment (MWE), and will explore the potential for integrating renewable energy development across the 10 member states of the Nile Basin Initiative, including in the neighboring countries of Tanzania, Kenya, and Rwanda.
